Ittefaq: Five reasons to watch the Sidharth Malhotra-Sonakshi Sinha film

Helmed by BR Chopra’s grandson Abhay Chopra, Ittefaq is hitting the theaters on November 3. Starring Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna, this remake of the 1969 classic whodunit mystery is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions and BR Studios. While many of us already know its plot, it might be as interesting to see how the new one pans out. And for those who still don’t know who the murderer is, Ittefaq has a good precedence from its original. Here are five reasons you should give Ittefaq a watch.

1969 Ittefaq

It is a well-known fact that Sidharth and Sonakshi’s Ittefaq is a remake of the 1969 Rajesh Khanna and Nanda film by the same name. And though the track record of Bollywood remakes speaks the opposite, there are high expectations around it. Majorly because it stars actors like Sidharth, Sonakshi and Akshaye and is backed by Red Chillies, Dharma and BR Studios. It is also being directed by Abhay Chopra, the grandson of the original director BR Chopra.

Whodunit?

Bollywood box office has majorly been dominated by Golmaal Again and Judwaa 2 in the past few months. And after light-hearted comedies like these, Ittefaq comes as a whiff of fresh air. A classic whodunit, with two murders, two suspects and two sides of the same story. This mystery crime saga will definitely bring audiences to the theaters.

Impressive cast

Sidharth Malhotra plays Vikram Sethi, a popular writer and Sonakshi essays the role of Maya, the other murder suspect. While on the other hand, we have Akshaye Khanna playing the typical no-nonsense cop. And if there is anything all these actors have in common, it is their impressive acting skills.

Bankrolled by Red Chillies and Dharma Productions

Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Productions and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions have decided to back this Abhay Chopra film. And that sure says something! Not only this, but Shah Rukh even wanted to star in the film himself.

No marketing

Since Ittefaq is a remake of the 1969 film, many of us already know its plot and hence to avoid further spoilers, the Ittefaq team has decided to go about with a strict no-marketing policy. In an age where promotions are one of the most important part of the film’s production process, this comes as a welcome change for audiences. But will the team be able to create enough buzz? We will only find out on November 3.
