Samsung has aggressively copied Nokia’s innovations, Apple’s iPhone, iPad designs over the years and now they want to take that philosophy to the next level.
Yesterday the Korean press confirmed that Samsung has chosen games as one of its lethal weapons to beachhead into the territories of Apple and Google. Samsung is bombarding game developers with money to create a Tizen OS ecosystem. According to Korean sources, Samsung is bent on having the top 100 iPhone and Android games ready for their Tizen OS by June. While that’s mildly interesting, we see that Samsung’s latest announcement as being far more aggressive. Today Samsung has introduced their version of Apple’s iTunes Store.

Late yesterday Samsung introduced their version of Apple’s iTunes Store that’s simply called Samsung Content & Services. The Korean report states that the newly-launched portal will provide one-stop contents and service that can be enjoyed through Samsung’s Smartphone, Smart Pad and Smart TV.
Samsung new portal provides a number of services such as ChatON and lists a number of Hubs for reading, learning, videos, gaming and more. Yet the most interesting of all of their services and/or apps may be the one that Samsung calls Kies (keys) that carries an iTunes Store-like interface for music, apps and contacts. The kicker here is that they actually offer Kies as an OS X (10.5 or later) download.
Yes, I can hear the whoosh of millions of Macites simultaneously downloading this stunning masterpiece of true innovation. I’m sure that this is what was dancing in the heads of the master copycat engineers when they finalized their software. Hey, they can dream can’t they?
Now that Judge Koh halved Apple’s win against their copycat aggressor, we’re bound to see the level of mirroring Apple’s innovations dramatically escalate over at Samsung because the benefits of copying Apple far outweigh the punishment of doing so.
Update 11:30 MST: Korea’s ETN confirmed that Samsung launched their new content & service portal to counteract Apple iTunes and Google Play on March 26th as our report duly noted.
